Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Barrandian Neoproterozoic. Old quarry, relics of exploitation, ignition and calcination of calcareous schists of the Neoproterozoic age. They were used for gypsum separation in process of alum production. These calcareous schists differ from common Neoproterozoic schists only by calcite content in their cement and presence of thin calcite veinlets. This lithotype is unique in the Barrandian Neoproterozoic.
